Palestinian-American Teenager Released After Nine Months in Israel's Imprisonment

An Palestinian-American teenager who spent 270 days in imprisonment by Israel without being charged gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention last February within the occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing while residing in Florida accused of stone-throwing toward Israeli settlers, which he previously denied.

United States authorities said it welcomed Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital right after being freed, family members reported.

According to them, he appears pale, underweight, and experiencing medical problems contracted in captivity.

Through an official statement, Mohammed's uncle spoke of the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Currently, our priority is ensuring Mohammed receives urgent medical care he needs after being subjected to Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances throughout his detention."

US officials announced ongoing to offer diplomatic assistance to Mohammed's family.

{"US government authorities gives utmost importance to ensuring the safety of American nationals"," the department emphasized.

A group of American legislators submitted a formal letter to diplomatic officials and the White House, demanding more be done to secure his release.

Mohammed's parent, with four children who runs an ice cream business from Florida, previously claimed his child admitted guilt regarding stone throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

There were no visits nor direct contact since February, receiving updates exclusively about his son's condition through judicial records.

He stayed absent formal charges in Ofer prison on the West Bank.

The facility also contains mature inmates, including individuals found guilty regarding severe security violations and murder.

Approximately 350 Palestinian minors in security custody currently imprisoned in Israel, per correctional service statistics.

Many have never been charged while advocacy organizations, including UN bodies, say some have suffered physical abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting demanding accountability for their family member their cousin Sayfollah.

This young American-Palestinian according to health authorities succumbed to assault by Israeli settlers during a confrontation last July.

Initially, military authorities reported authorities were looking into information regarding a civilian had died.

Mohammed and Sayfollah collaborated in the family ice cream shop from Tampa.

No one has been charged with Sayfollah's killing.

"We demand US authorities to ensure our family's safety," the uncle stated.
